Remote Heart Rate Estimation From Videos for Minority Populations in Emergency Department

The rapid expansion of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted important limitations of virtual care, such as the lack of access to patient vital signs during the visit. Estimation of specific vital signs through remote video-based photoplethysmography (rPPG) has been demonstrated. We investigate how to estimate heart rate remotely from videos of emergency department patients, including minority populations with non-Caucasian skin tones.
